For almost half of the company's history, PEI has dedicated an entire department to the daily etching of lids for seam weldable microelectronic packages. PEI's Lid Division currently provides lids and covers to the microwave/aerospace, hybrid/ OEM and related industries.

PEI uses chemical machining/etching as a process to selectively remove material by chemical action. This process, an excellent alternative to stamping or other typical metal part fabrication methods, is extraordinarily cost effective. Assisted by a Gerber Crescent 30 laser photo plotter, the latest in PC hardware and AutoCAD 2000 software, the precision tooling department creates production photo-tooling in as little as 45 minutes. Customer drawings and / or drawing files are carefully recreated, compensated and checked throughout the process.

PEI can produce lids ( Step Lids,Flat Lids, and Cavity Lids ) from prints or the specifications of the packages to which the lid will be welded. Long-term dedication to this specialty market has resulted in PEI earning a reputation as the best quality competitively priced lid available today.
